It occurs to me that I’ve gotten very lazy over the past year, relying to a large extent on FaceBook to provide updates and such about this radio show.
But over the past few months, it’s become clear to me that FB is not a viable platform anymore, at least for me. Lots of reasons for this, to be sure, but the acceptance of hate speech towards marginalised communities as a matter of policy means I can’t support Meta with my presence any longer.
If you follow the page on FB, you’ve seen my posts about moving to the Bluesky platform, effective this week. The challenge is how to do that within the limits of 250 character posts, with only a small minority of the artists being played even on the platform as of yet. Additionally, I’ll be using the website to post longer thoughts, and get a little bit deeper into the weeds discussing new releases, live shows I’ve seen, etc. I’ll be passing links back and forth between these platforms as I learn the best ways to navigate, keep in touch with the artists I’m featuring, and try to keep lines of communication open to listeners who are interested.
However it works out, my highest priority is as always producing the best radio that I can. Thanks for listening!
